India’s First Cinema to Install Ather Grid Providing Fast Charging Points for EVs
India’s leading multiplex chain, INOX Leisure Ltd (INOX), has installed Ather Energy’s fast charging points, Ather Grid in the parking lot of INOX Bund Garden, Pune making it the first cinema in India to be equipped with fast chargers for all-electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers in its parking lot. With this, INOX has taken another step towards being environmentally responsible. With the Ather Grid fast-charging stations, patrons’ can now charge their electric vehicles while comfortably watching a movie at INOX. Ather owners can fast-charge their vehicle at a speed of 1.5 km/min, while Ather Grid also provides normal speed charge options to all-electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers free of cost. This initiative is special for INOX since this charging station is installed in their first 4-screen multiplex located at Bund Garden, Pune inaugurated in the year 2002.
Mr Rajeev Patni, COO – INOX Leisure Limited said, “As India is progressing towards electric mobility with more electric vehicles on road, making EV charging stations at all parking sites will gradually become a norm, and we are proud to be leading this initiative by installing the same at one of our iconic cinemas. As an environmentally responsible organization, we are committed to take steps towards sustainability and a much cleaner and greener environment. With this additional service, our patrons can now charge their vehicle batteries while comfortably enjoying a movie. Furthermore, with the central government encouraging a shift to electric vehicles by 2030, our aim is to install more such charging stations across INOX multiplexes in India.”
Mr Nilay Chandra, VP – Marketing and Charging Infrastructure, Ather Energy said, “Ather Grid is one of India’s largest two-wheeler fast-charging networks, and our charging points have witnessed a steady adoption. This partnership with INOX will allow us to make our charging stations more accessible to EV owners across the country. We are one of the few OEMs in India which also invests heavily in building EV charging infrastructure. We have already installed over 200 charging points in 21 markets and intend to add a total of 500 Ather Grid points by the end of the year.”
Besides making sure that the cinemas will be operated by a 100% vaccinated team, INOX is adhering to instructions as prescribed in the notifications issued by the State Governments for safe and hygienic Cinema operations. INOX has curated a hygiene initiative called #SafetyFirst, which is a combination of the measures prescribed by the Government authorities and additional measures implemented by itself. In addition to the prescribed seating restrictions, the cinemas will be frequently deep cleaned and disinfection of all customer touchpoints including entrance, Box Office, lobbies, auditorium, F&B counters, restrooms and exit gates will be carried out. In an endeavour to provide enhanced hygiene, the protocols like mandatory masks, temperature checks, e-tickets, contactless payment & entry and enhanced intake of fresh air have also been implemented. INOX aims to make the entire cinema-viewing experience digitally enabled and touch-free by encouraging the use of e-tickets for even the guests walking in at the counters.
