Indian Officials Sent to UN to get Terror Outfit Behind Pahalgam

The Indian government has sent a team to the United Nations in an attempt to get hold of The Resistance Force (TRF), the outfit listed as a terrorist group and suspected to be behind the Pahalgam attack. The team is said to interact with the monitoring team of the 1267 sanctions committee and other partner countries in the UN.

Indian officials, including the foreign secretary, Vikram Misri, have on occasions informed that the TRF carried out the April 22 Pehelgam attack. The government has called upon the UN to designate this Pakistan-based terrorist organisation already a ‘known front’ to Lashkar-e-Taiba. Pakistan has also managed to get the TRF’s name removed from the April 25 Security Council statement on the terror attacks.

TRF Takes Responsibility for the Pahalgam Attack

The TRF has claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack twice within a few hours after the incident occurred on April 22 and again on the morning of April 23. According to the Foreign Ministry mystery, the TRF took back the claim only after the outfit’s leaders and handler across the border realised the gravity of the attack.

“Obviously, that retraction doesn’t convince anybody,” Misri said after India conducted strikes at nine of the dead organisation’s locations in Pakistan, including the LeT’s headquarters in Muridke.

Indian officials have also referred to the Security Council’s April 25 statement and stated that the talks call for a ‘need to hold perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors accountable’ and said that India’s action should be seen in this context.
