The Indian Army, along with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Arunachal Scouts, Para Special Forces and the newly raised Bhairav Battalion, conducted a three-day joint artillery field firing exercise at Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district.
The exercise, held from February 23 to 25, aimed to enhance operational readiness and improve coordination among forces operating in high-altitude and strategically sensitive regions, a defence spokesperson said.
According to Defence spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat, the primary objective of the drill was to strengthen inter-agency synergy and sharpen combat preparedness in mountainous terrain. The exercise included a series of live artillery firing missions carried out under simulated battlefield conditions.
Focus on high-altitude combat preparedness
Officials said the integrated training marked a significant step toward deeper joint operational integration and cross-arm cooperation among the participating units.
The drill incorporated advanced technologies, modern equipment and updated operational procedures to optimise the deployment of artillery firepower. Troops trained in realistic combat scenarios replicating the challenges of high-altitude warfare, enabling them to execute coordinated fire missions with greater precision and efficiency.
The exercise also enhanced mutual trust, responsiveness and coordination among the forces involved. Officials added that its successful completion underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to strengthening integrated war-fighting capabilities, promoting inter-agency collaboration and conducting realistic training to address evolving security challenges, particularly in mountainous regions such as Arunachal Pradesh.
