India and Canada are poised to elevate their bilateral relations, as stated by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar after his meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand during the UN General Assembly. On Saturday, Jaishankar shared on X that his discussion with Anand was productive and indicated a mutual desire to advance their relationship. He highlighted the importance of continuous dialogue in achieving this goal during the high-profile UN event.

Jaishankar’s comments come in light of remarks made earlier by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who expressed optimism about enhancing ties with India and mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s anticipated visit to Canada in December. Progress in Trade Negotiations

In a press conference on the sidelines of the UNGA, Prime Minister Carney elaborated on the progress Canada is reportedly making in trade negotiations with India. Jaishankar noted that energy ties between India and Venezuela are strengthening, alongside ongoing discussions of regional issues.
