The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to conduct Exercise Vayushakti-26 on February 27, 2026, at the Pokhran Air to Ground Range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. This exercise aims to demonstrate the operational capabilities of the IAF, emphasizing its role as a swift and effective responder in various military scenarios.
The event will illustrate how the IAF can swiftly retaliate against adversaries and assert control over the operational landscape from the very beginning of conflict situations. Vayushakti-26 will also showcase the IAF’s essential contribution to humanitarian missions and disaster response, highlighting its capacity for rapid airlift and rescue operations in both domestic and international contexts.
Full-Spectrum Operations to be Conducted
During this exercise, the IAF will carry out full-spectrum operations utilizing multiple aircraft platforms including fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters. Notable aircraft participating will include the Tejas, Rafale, Jaguar, Mirage-2000, Sukhoi-30MKI, MiG-29, Hawk, C-130J, C-295, C-17, and various helicopters such as Chetak, ALH MK-IV, Mi-17 IV, LCH, Apache, Chinook, in addition to Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA). The exercise will also incorporate advanced weapon systems such as Short Range Loitering Munitions (SRLM), Akash, SpyDer, and Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS). These systems will engage in operations throughout the day as well as during dusk and night, further showcasing the IAF’s versatility and readiness.
Emphasis on Operational Excellence and Technological Superiority
Vayushakti-26 will serve to reaffirm the success of Operation Sindoor, underscoring the IAF’s leadership in ensuring air dominance, precise long-range targeting, and multi-domain operational capabilities. The exercise will reflect India’s ambition of achieving ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, focusing on indigenous platforms. The core values of “Achook, Abhedya aur Sateek” will guide the exercise, aiming to reassure the public and demonstrate the IAF’s critical role in the nation’s defense architecture.
