Hyundai Achieves Record Sales in February with 66,134 Units

The CSR Journal Magazine

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has achieved its highest total sales for the month of February, reaching 66,134 units in February 2026. This marks a year-on-year growth of 12.6 percent, driven largely by strong domestic demand and robust export activity. The domestic sales accounted for 52,407 units, reflecting a 9.8 percent increase compared to the previous year and establishing a new benchmark for February since the company’s operations began in India. Additionally, exports made a significant contribution with 13,727 units sold, marked by an impressive year-on-year growth of 24.8 percent, bolstering Hyundai’s international presence through its manufacturing base in India.

Robust Performance in Domestic Sales

The remarkable surge in domestic sales highlights a consistent consumer preference for Hyundai’s diverse vehicle lineup. The February results build on a strong January, indicating a positive trend for the company in the early months of 2026. The data underscores that Hyundai continues to adapt effectively to market demands, offering models that resonate well with India’s evolving automotive landscape. The combination of attractive pricing, technological advancements, and customer-focused features has likely contributed to this record performance.

Exports Show Strong Growth Trajectory

Exports remain a crucial aspect of Hyundai’s performance, with overseas shipments showing an increasingly rapid pace of growth, surpassing domestic sales. The substantial 24.8 percent increase in exports emphasizes the rising acceptance of Hyundai’s products in various global markets. This trend not only enhances the brand’s competitiveness abroad but also affirms the quality standards associated with India-manufactured vehicles. Such export achievements are vital as they contribute to the company’s broader strategy of expanding its footprint worldwide.

Leadership Comments on Achievements

Commenting on the achievement, Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of HMIL, expressed pride in the company’s capacity to maintain strong sales momentum from January into February, realizing its best-ever totals for both overall and domestic sales during the month. Garg noted that as Hyundai approaches 30 years in the Indian market, the automaker is committed to advancing connected technologies and enhancing customer experience. The focus remains not only on domestic markets but also on increasing global export volumes from India.

Competitive Landscape with Domestic Rivals

Despite recording its highest-ever February sales, Hyundai Motor India Limited still trails behind domestic competitors such as Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra in terms of monthly sales rankings. Mahindra reported domestic sales of 60,018 units, reflecting a strong 19 percent year-on-year growth. For some time, Hyundai has lost its previously held second position in the Indian passenger vehicle segment to its two homegrown rivals. The capacity of Hyundai to reclaim its prominent position in the marketplace will be observed in the upcoming months as competition intensifies.
