The CSR Journal Magazine

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed pride over the state’s silver jubilee celebration and the hosting of G20 Summit events. During a session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly in Gairsain on Wednesday, Dhami emphasized that these milestones highlight Uttarakhand’s growing significance on both national and international platforms.

He remarked on the state’s Rajat Jayanti celebrations, which took place under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and noted that Uttarakhand has had the honor of hosting G20 events on three separate occasions, calling it a moment of considerable pride for all residents.

Showcasing Cultural Heritage and Development

Chief Minister Dhami noted that these international events have served to present Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and potential for development to a global audience. He highlighted that such opportunities not only enhance the state’s profile but also foster greater interest in its tourism and investment prospects. The Chief Minister’s remarks underscored a commitment to projecting Uttarakhand’s capabilities and attractions to the rest of the world during these significant events.

New Budget Initiative for UPNL Employees

On March 10, the Uttarakhand government made a noteworthy announcement in its budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, aimed at providing equal pay for equal work for former UPNL employees. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami allocated Rs 289.98 crore for this initiative, signifying the state’s dedication to ensuring fair treatment for its workforce. Dhami pointed out the vital contributions made by former UPNL employees across various departments over the years and stated that it is the government’s obligation to safeguard their interests. This decision, he believes, will not only offer relief to these employees but also encourage them to engage more energetically in the state’s development efforts.

Commitment to Governance and Employee Welfare

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment to the welfare of employees and workers, enhancing the administrative framework, and promoting transparent governance. He expressed confidence that the measures outlined in the budget reflect the government’s sensitivity toward employee needs. The ongoing Budget Session of the Uttarakhand Assembly runs from March 9 to March 13, 2026. The Chief Minister’s statements highlight a multi-faceted approach to governance that strives to address both developmental and employee-related issues.

Economic Growth Highlights

In conjunction with these announcements, Principal Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram provided insights into Uttarakhand’s economic performance, revealing that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for 2024-25 is projected at Rs 3,81,889 crore. This marks a significant increase from Rs 2.54 lakh crore in 2021-22, indicating that the state’s economy has grown by more than one and a half times in this period. These figures reflect the positive trajectory of Uttarakhand’s economic landscape, further solidifying the state’s position as a key player in the regional economy.
