Gujarat to Host 2026 Semiconnect Conference at Mahatma Mandir

The Government of Gujarat has announced the third edition of the Gujarat Semiconnect Conference 2026, scheduled to take place on March 1 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. The event is organized by the Department of Science & Technology in collaboration with the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM).

This global conference aligns with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for technological self-reliance, placing a particular focus on the semiconductor sector as essential to India’s growth trajectory.

Inauguration and Key Attendees

Gujarat’s Chief Minister, Bhupendrabhai Patel, is set to inaugurate the conference, accompanied by Union Minister for Electronics & IT, Railways and Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and Minister for Science & Technology Arjun Modhwadia. The conference’s theme, “Gujarat: India’s Gateway to Silicon,” aims to position the state as a central hub in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Focus Areas and Sessions

During the two-day conference, a variety of key activities will take place, including keynote speeches, thematic panels, and international roundtables. The first day is dedicated to crucial topics such as advancements in semiconductor research, manufacturing logistics, export preparedness for regions like Dholera and Sanand, and workforce development for future skills. Additionally, discussions will explore the enhancement of India’s electronics industry, covering aspects from printed circuit boards to resilient component ecosystems.

Special Sessions and Roundtables

Parallel sessions will also include a Micron Suppliers’ Roundtable and country-specific roundtables focusing on Japan and Taiwan. A seminar titled “From Silicon to Students: Building India’s Semiconductor Future” will aim to address educational outreach within the sector.

The second day will feature a guided tour of the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), organized by GSEM, DICDL, and Tata Electronics, allowing delegates to experience Gujarat’s ambitious infrastructure developments first-hand.

The conference will showcase an esteemed lineup of speakers, including Randhir Thakur, CEO & Managing Director of TEPL; Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron Technology; GC Chaturvedi, Chairman of CG Semi; Ramesh Kunhikannan, Executive Vice Chairman of Kaynes Technology; Ajit Manocha, CEO of SEMI; and Rao Tummala, Emeritus Professor at Georgia Tech.

Their participation emphasizes the global confidence in Gujarat’s initiatives within the semiconductor landscape and supports the Prime Minister’s vision for India to lead in advanced technology.

International Collaborations and Future Aspirations

Companies such as Micron, Tata Electronics, and Kaynes Semicon, along with prominent knowledge partners including JETRO (Japan), KOTRA (Korea), Invest India, and the India Semiconductor Mission, have pledged support for this initiative. Their involvement illustrates the international collaboration and national momentum Gujarat is developing, guided by the Prime Minister’s vision and Chief Minister’s leadership.
