In an attempt to make travel experience more convenient and comfortable for Government employees across all strata, the Ministry of Railways has announced that they can now travel in premium trains like Vande Bharat, Tejas and Humsafar express, while availing their Leave Travel Concession or LTC. The number of trains available for Leave Travel Concession (LTC) for government employees has been raised to 385 premium trains by the Railway Ministry. Government employees are now allowed to travel in these world class trains to their hometowns as well as anywhere in India under LTC.
Which trains were available for LTC travel till now
As per the Railway Ministry’s announcement, Central Government employees can now access the services of 241 additional trains while utilising their Leave Travel Concession (LTC). They are now eligible to travel in 136 Vande Bharat, 97 Humsafar and 8 Tejas Express trains.
Prior to this decision, Government employees could travel in AC in 144 high-end trains including Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto Express. With this decision, there will be a total 385 trains across all the regions of the country where they are operating in which tickets can be booked for LTC travel by the government employees.
Which level of Govt employees can avail which facilities in trains
For short and medium distance rail travel in Vande Bharat, Tejas and Shatabdi express trains, government employees can travel in chair car up to the level 11
Government employees at level 12 and above are entitled to executive chair car travel in the above trains
For long distance travel, where coaches have berths i.e. luxurious trains like the Rajdhani Express, government employees at level 12 and above can avail AC 2nd class travel
Government employees from level 6 to 11 can avail AC 2nd class travel
Government employees at level 5 & below can avail AC 3rd Class travel during their LTC
What is LTC (Leave Travel Concession)
LTC or Leave Travel Concession is a travel facility provided to government employees, allowing them to visit their hometown or any place in India during a block of four years. Employees can avail hometown LTC twice in a block of two years each, or they can use it once to visit their hometown and once to visit any place in India during the four-year block.
