The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced that the government has consented to hold discussions at a neutral venue on July 24. This decision is a significant development, reportedly aimed at resolving ongoing issues surrounding their demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The meeting is set to take place at the Constitution Club of India.

This announcement follows the conclusion of a 26-day hunger strike by activist Sonam Wangchuk. His fast ended at Medanta Hospital in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh. CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das expressed satisfaction with the government’s willingness to meet, affirming that the selected venue reflects their request for neutrality in discussions.

Das elaborated on their unwavering demands, which also encompass compensation for affected families and the withdrawal of cases against innocent protesters. CJP spokesperson Vaishnavi Gaur reiterated that the government agreed to discuss these issues at the previously mentioned neutral location, signalling a potential shift in the dialogue between the CJP and the governing authorities.

Wangchuk’s Hunger Strike and Its Impact

Sonam Wangchuk, who has sparked significant attention through his hunger strike, reportedly aimed to raise awareness on critical issues affecting students and the education system. His action ended in the presence of political figures who reportedly urged him to conclude his fast, which has been seen as a gesture of goodwill and trust towards the government’s response.

Following his decision to end the hunger strike, Wangchuk highlighted the negotiations that led to this outcome, stating that his actions were motivated by a desire to avoid potential violence in the country. Abhijeet Dipke, a fellow CJP activist, lauded Wangchuk’s efforts, stressing the profound importance of his actions for the nation. In a post on X, he emphasised that Wangchuk’s personal sacrifice served to awaken collective national consciousness regarding ongoing educational issues.

Call for Nationwide Protests and Government Response

In conjunction with their ongoing efforts, the Cockroach Janta Party has initiated calls for peaceful protests across the country on July 24. These demonstrations are aimed at demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, specifically linked to the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari commented on the recent developments, suggesting that Wangchuk’s decision to break his fast reflects a burgeoning trust in the Modi government. He posited that this decision affirms government actions against issues like paper leaks, asserting that the government’s commitment to educational integrity remains steadfast.
