Huge Fire Breaks Out in Gwalior, Two Firefighters Injured

Two firefighters suffered injuries after a major fire erupted within a four-story building in Gwalior located in Madhya Pradesh during the early morning hours of Thursday, April 10, 2025. Portions of the ground floor where a thread-manufacturing factory operated became the point where fire erupted. Several gas cylinder explosions along with the initial fire made the blaze rapidly burn through the building.

Firefighters Safely Operated Evacuation

The Chawri Bazar section of the city experienced the fire at 2 am in its densely populated neighbourhoods. The thread factory operating from the ground floor marked the starting point for the fire, according to authorities. The small streets near the building prevented firefighters from reaching the location with ease. The firefighting team successfully evacuated seven flats in the structure and managed to remove multiple gas cylinders from the building, while several cylinders remained in place because they could not be safely extracted on time. An explosion from certain cylinders resulted in stronger flames, which made firefighting more challenging.

During the firefighting operation, Parshottam and Yogesh the two firefighters received injuries when one of the cylinders exploded. Medical professionals admitted the two men to the hospital following the incident. The Indian Air Force sent their fire brigade to support firefighters in controlling the fire and successfully extinguished the fire. The blaze reached a state of relative control by 6 am and combustion continued to smolder until approximately 10 am.

Origin of Fire Points Towards Short Circuit

The fast spread of flames occurred because highly flammable materials like chemicals together with thread materials existed inside the factory. Thick smoke spread through the building after the fire started thus prompting evacuation of the residents. Initial findings point to a short circuit as the fire’s origin but inspectors need to determine if this factory had the legal right to operate in a residential district.

Another warehouse fire erupted in Morena, Madhya Pradesh shortly before this recent incident. Officials are conducting ongoing investigations into the fire’s origin while determining whether proper safety measures were followed by the thread factory that was potentially functioning without permission. The authorities have implemented safety protocols to stop these occurrences from happening once again.
