An eight-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being crushed by a pitch roller at a cricket academy in Gurugram. The tragic event allegedly occurred when another child switched on the stationary machine while young players were engaged in activities at the facility. The academy is situated on a four-acre plot owned by Ashu.

The victim was identified as the son of Ratan, a resident of Nalanda in Bihar, who works in the scrap trade. The family resides in close proximity to the academy, making the incident all the more devastating for them.

Accidental Activation of Machinery

As the machine started rolling, the young boy lost his balance and fell in its path. Unfortunately, he was run over by the roller, resulting in immediate fatal injuries. Witnesses, including the other children, fled the scene in shock after witnessing the harrowing event.

Family’s Reaction and Medical Response

The family learned of the accident approximately one hour later when the victim’s elder brother returned home and informed them that his younger sibling had sustained injuries. Rushing to the cricket academy, the family discovered the child lying on the ground, covered in blood. Other players who had arrived for practice were the ones who initially found him.

Following the discovery, they arranged for a private vehicle to transport the injured child to a nearby hospital. However, medical staff at the facility pronounced him dead on arrival. The family reportedly had been unaware of the incident’s severity until they arrived at the scene.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Upon receiving information about the tragic case, the local police took possession of the body and initiated an investigation. Investigating officer Ranjeet reported that the family viewed the incident as a freak accident, and they did not accuse the academy operator or others of negligence.

Following the family’s written statement, police completed requisite legal formalities categorising the incident as an “Accidental Death.” The deceased child’s body was subsequently handed over to the family following a post-mortem examination.
