Dr Renu Tripathi remains active in her quest to educate students, despite being 63 years old. She has been selected for the National Teachers’ Award 2026, alongside 47 other educators from various parts of India. This prestigious recognition will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Teachers’ Day, scheduled for September 5.

Dr Tripathi teaches at Government Girls’ Inter College in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, and actively employs innovative methods that extend beyond traditional classroom teaching. She utilises models, practical experiments, and field visits to make scientific concepts tangible for her students. By facilitating observation and hands-on learning, she effectively demystifies complex subjects.

In addition to her physical teaching methods, Tripathi leverages digital resources. She runs two YouTube channels dedicated to science education and has created various online educational materials. Her philosophy is rooted in the belief that challenging topics should be accessible, simplifying the language around them to foster understanding.

Background and Experience in Education

Dr Tripathi’s journey in education commenced before she entered the teaching profession. In 1987, she began her career in the Uttar Pradesh government as a Project Officer, focusing on reintegrating school dropouts into the educational system. Her work covered 60 villages in the Muradnagar area, significantly contributing to local educational initiatives.

This initial experience not only shaped her understanding of educational challenges but also motivated her to transition into teaching. After leaving her first government role, she committed to a career that would place her directly in contact with students. Since 2006, she has taught science at the government school in Ghaziabad.

Over the years, many of her students have flourished in various fields, including medicine, engineering, and government service. This impact demonstrates the significant role she has played in guiding and nurturing young minds.

Future Aspirations Beyond Retirement

Dr Renu Tripathi’s selection for the National Teachers’ Award coincides with her impending retirement next year; however, she emphasises that this will not signify the end of her educational endeavours. She intends to continue her teaching work beyond retirement, concentrating on underprivileged and orphaned children.

Her commitment to education highlights a lifelong dedication to helping children learn, regardless of the challenges they may face. Tripathi believes that while the classroom environment and technology may evolve, the core mission of aiding children’s learning remains constant.
