Delhi Police Detains Eight Suspects in Uttam Nagar Murder Case; SC/ST Act Applied

Delhi Police have apprehended the eighth suspect, identified as 38-year-old Imran, also known as Bunty, in connection with the murder of a youth in Uttam Nagar. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kushal Pal Singh, confirmed the arrest, stating it follows previous detentions made in the case.

In light of statements made by the family of the deceased, Tarun, authorities have invoked provisions of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. Singh indicated that the law would apply as the investigation continues. The murder investigation centers around an event that took place on March 4, coinciding with the Holi celebrations. Initial reports suggest that a quarrel erupted over a balloon, which subsequently escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in the fatal assault on the youth. Alongside Imran, seven other individuals have been detained, including a minor who was apprehended earlier in the investigation. All detainees are reportedly local residents of the area.
