The threatening emails referenced several prominent political figures, including Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Sandhu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. In response to the threats, authorities have deployed a sniffer dog squad to thoroughly inspect the premises and ensure the safety of attendees. An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the origin of the emails.

Budget Session Inaugurated Amid Security Concerns

This incident occurred on the same day as the commencement of the Delhi Assembly Budget Session. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta initiated the session with the traditional ‘Kheer Ceremony’, emphasizing the vision of ‘Viksit Delhi, Harit Delhi’ which translates to ‘Developed Delhi, Green Delhi’. During her address, she expressed confidence that this budget would significantly contribute to realizing the aspirations of nearly 30 million residents of Delhi.

Symbolism of the Kheer Ceremony

The Chief Minister’s Office released a statement noting that the ‘Kheer Ceremony’ marks not only the ceremonial beginning of the budget process but also symbolizes a commitment to public welfare and prosperity. Attendees included farmers, school students, teachers, healthcare professionals, members of the transgender community, women drivers, and media representatives. Farmers showed their respect by presenting the Chief Minister with a traditional turban during the event.

Government’s Focus on Development

In her remarks, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta asserted that the government’s upcoming budget aims to accelerate Delhi’s development. She underscored that the budget is designed to enhance infrastructure and elevate the living standards of residents. The Chief Minister highlighted initiatives for improving health facilities, educational resources, infrastructure, and environmental cleanliness as key priorities in the upcoming financial plan.

Upcoming Legislative Sessions
