CTET 2026 Postponed With Reopened Application Window Until September 1

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the postponement of the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). This decision has prompted the board to reopen the application window for eligible candidates who were unable to register during the previous phase. The modification comes following a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, which emphasised the necessity for teachers to have a reasonable opportunity to obtain the requisite Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification.

New Application Window Dates

According to the latest public notice issued by CBSE, the application window for CTET 2026 will be open from August 25 until September 1, 2026. This extension allows candidates who missed the earlier registration phase to apply for the examination. Those who have already submitted their applications do not need to register again and will retain their applications for the examination process.

The official notice released by the board states, “In view of the aforesaid and in the larger interest of candidates, it has been decided to provide an opportunity to all eligible candidates who could not avail themselves of the earlier application window by opening the online application portal from 25.08.2026 to 01.09.2026.” The alterations aim to ensure that all potential candidates have equal access to the exam.

Previously, the application process for this edition of the CTET was conducted between May 11 and June 10, 2026. Given the recent developments, the board is encouraging all eligible candidates to take advantage of this extended application period.

Application Process for CTET 2026

For those looking to apply for the CTET 2026, the process is straightforward. Candidates are required to visit the official website at ctet.nic.in to begin their application. Upon entering the homepage, the specific link titled ‘ApplyLogin: CTET SEP 2026 (Online application date extended till 01.09.2026)’ must be selected. This will direct them to a new page where they can proceed with the registration process.

Once on the registration page, candidates will find a link to start the application process. The CBSE board has provided clear guidance to facilitate a smooth application experience for all candidates. It is advisable for applicants to regularly check the official website for any further updates or instructions regarding the examination.

The reopening of the application window is a critical adjustment that hopes to accommodate all eligible candidates, allowing them a fair chance to complete their registration for the CTET 2026. Additional updates and information will be communicated through official channels as they become available.
