CSR News: Partnership with United Way of Hyderabad to Transform Education in Government Schools

Hyderabad, India: HealthEdge, a leading provider of next-generation core administrative processing systems (CAPS) and care management solutions, announced a partnership with the United Way of Hyderabad to enhance the quality of education in government schools across India. This collaboration focuses on upgrading infrastructure, advancing STEM education and promoting sustainability through the School Transformation Program, and is part of a broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to enhance the quality of education in government schools across India.
India’s education sector has made significant progress, however challenges related to government school infrastructure persist. According to NITI Aayog’s School Education Quality Index (SEQI), more than 40% of rural schools still lack essential facilities such as toilets, drinking water, and electricity. Improving upon these deficiencies will affect positive change by improving student attendance and academic performance and also decrease dropout rates, particularly among girls. HealthEdge and United Way of Hyderabad are partnering in the School Transformation Program to close the educational divide and ensure the holistic development of students in underserved communities by providing basic amenities, improving STEM education resources and supporting renewable energy efforts to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
“At United Way Hyderabad, our mission is to empower communities through sustainable and impactful initiatives, with education as a cornerstone of our efforts,” said Ms. Rekha Srinivasan, Executive Director of United Way of Hyderabad. “This partnership with HealthEdge Cares is a significant step in transforming the educational landscape for underserved schools. By improving basic amenities and fostering a conducive learning environment, HealthEdge is investing not only in infrastructure but in the future of countless children. Together, we aim to bridge critical gaps and create opportunities for students to unlock their full potential.”
The School Transformation Program will focus on upgrading critical infrastructure, including WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities, classrooms, and digital infrastructure. It will also promote STEM education through the creation of digital classrooms, computer labs, and teacher training. Furthermore, the program will incorporate renewable energy solutions to lower electricity costs and create a more sustainable and efficient learning environment.
“We are proud to partner with the United Way of Hyderabad on the School Transformation Program and provide the students of India with the necessary resources to succeed,” said Heather Bender, Chief People Officer at HealthEdge. “Our organizations are well aligned in our vision and goals for the program and setting it up for long-term success. HealthEdge looks forward to working closely with Rekha and the brilliant team she has assembled to provide opportunities for the next generation of learners in India.”
HealthEdge, in conjunction with United Way of Hyderabad, is committed to extending the School Transformation Program to government schools in Malur, Karnataka, and Pune, Maharashtra. The program will focus on optimizing classroom environments and setting a new standard for impactful education interventions. The School Transformation Program is designed to ensure every child can grow and succeed in a supportive and sustainable setting by providing the essential infrastructure to reduce learning disparities.
