With the advent of new technologies, there is an increased requirement of skills such as cloud computing, AI, data analytics, etc. It is estimated by several studies that these technologies will replace about 50 per cent of jobs in the next couple of decades, while the requirement of individuals adept at such skills will increase rapidly.
The futuristic vision of the job market has opened up many skill development initiatives by organisations and companies. With same vision in mind, Tech Mahindra Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Tech Mahindra Ltd. has joined forces with Amazon Internet Services Private Limited (AISPL) to enable underemployed or unemployed individuals to start a career in cloud computing technology.
What is AWS re/Start Program?
The AWS re/Start program is a 12-week, in-person, skills-based training program that covers fundamental AWS Cloud skills as well as practical career skills, such as interviewing and resume writing, to help prepare individuals for an entry-level cloud position. The program will now be offered through Tech Mahindra SMART Academies of Digital Technologies in Hyderabad, Mohali, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune via online learning.
The program will be offered at no cost to learners, and previous technology experience is not required to apply. Through scenario-based exercises, hands-on labs, and coursework, students will learn to build programming language (Linux and Python), networking, security and relational database skills etc. Ultimately, participants will be prepared for an entry-level cloud role in the areas such as operations, site reliability, and infrastructure support.
Through the AWS re/Start program, the Foundation is excited to help individuals develop in-demand cloud skills and prepare them for jobs. About the Curriculum
AWS re/Start curriculum teaches AWS Cloud fundamentals to help learners succeed in entry-level cloud positions. Through scenario-based exercises, hands-on labs, and coursework, learners build Linux, Python, networking, security, and relational database skills. Learners receive job-specific training on building effective front-line support, troubleshooting, escalation, and task automation techniques. AWS re/Start also provides learners with professional skills including effective communication, collaboration, resume writing, and interview coaching to prepare them for employer meetings and interviews.
The program also prepares and covers the cost for participants to take the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification exam, validating their cloud skills with an industry-recognized credential. As part of this initiative, the first two cohorts have started on the 9th of February 2022.
Scope for the Program Graduates
The AWS re/Start is a global program delivered in 39 countries and connects more than 90% of graduates with job interview opportunities. Tech Mahindra Foundation will work with its training and placement partners to facilitate placement for the program graduates in India.
