Couple Found Hanging in Delhi’s Deer Park in Hauz Khas

An 18-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man from Nepal were found hanging from a tree in Deer Park of Delhi’s Hauz Khas. A security guard at the site informed police officers via a PCR call on Sunday morning. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and the possibility of suicide.

“The deceased man’s brother stated that he left home around 2 PM Saturday. He was employed at a pizza shop in Lodhi colony. The woman’s sister reported that she had been staying with her aunt in Humayupur village for the past three days. She also left her aunt’s house at approximately 2 PM, intending to return to Chhatarpur enclave for work,” told the police to the media.

Family Against Love

The couple hailed from neighbouring villages in the Sanfebagar area of Achham district in Nepal and both belonged to the Kalita caste. 

According to their uncle, the families of the deceased found out about their relationship two days ago, when they decided to elope. Their families traced them down to India Gate and brought them home. The main contention of the family was that both belonged to the same Gotra and Jaat and hence should not get married.
