CSR Initiative drive for digital & financial literacy, citizen centric services

A joint initiative to improve digital and financial literacy among the weak and underprivileged segments of society, particularly SC-ST, BPL, and women, has been launched by PayU India, a leading online payment service provider in the country, and CSC Academy, an SPV of the Ministry of Electronics & IT. This campaign would provide people between the ages of 15 and 60 with financial and digital literacy instructions as well as other civic services via mobile vans stationed in and around three districts in Delhi/Gurugram, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The program runs from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
Its main objective is to improve the standard of living for an expanding number of people by including them in the Government of India’s Digital India plan. This campaign would encourage common people to save and invest money while also promoting secure digital financial transactions throughout the nation. In essence, this programme aims to reduce the impact on the common people that results from their lack of awareness of financial and digital literacy.
It is noteworthy that digital and financial literacy is the main means of fulfilling the dream of empowerment of the common people under the Digital India initiative. The benefits of Information & Communications Technology (ICT) will be integrated into rural residents’ daily lives through “digital literacy,” particularly in the fields of health care, income generation, and education. Additionally, the curriculum will place focus on using digital financial instruments for electronic payment systems because the government is pushing for cashless transactions via mobile devices. Through these vans, additional citizen-focused services will be made available to the public.
The Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) of CSC will assist in the administration of this campaign. Each van will train about 50,000 individuals in a single year. Since the poor and disadvantaged members of society and many rural residents avoid using communication tools like TV, radio, or social media, there is a need for creative and efficient communication in order to inform people. Reaching out to isolated rural areas and holding fruitful engagement sessions with the locals would be made much easier thanks to these mobile vans.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar Rakesh, MD & CEO, CSC SPV, explained this relationship by stating that, “Rural India is fast transforming due to financial and digital empowerment. Vans will be able to reach isolated rural areas thanks to this relationship with PayU. This will pave the way for inclusive development in that area.”
