MBD Group, a pioneer in the field of education and publishing, is set to re-imagine learning spaces at Sain Dass Anglo Sanskrit Senior Secondary School, Patel Chowk, Jalandhar, with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art AASOKA Robotics & Coding Lab and Language Lab on 15 July 2024. This initiative coincides with MBD Group’s Foundation Day on 10 July, marking a significant milestone in the Group’s ongoing mission to provide quality education to all. The event will be attended by Smt Satish Bala Malhotra (Chairperson, MBD Group), Ms Monica Malhotra Kandhari (MD, MBD Group), Ms Sonica Malhotra Kandhari (JMD, MBD Group), Shri Balwant Sharma (Executive Director) and Shri Praveen Singh (CEO).
The Ashok Kumar Malhotra Charitable Trust, the CSR division of MBD Group, started its “Love to Learn” initiative last year. Through this initiative, the Group aims to revolutionise traditional classrooms by incorporating technology and opening up a world of endless possibilities for learners. This year the initiative continues to make strides with the introduction of the new AASOKA Robotics & Coding Lab, which features robotic kits; state-of-the-art appliances and furniture; and AC classrooms, along with interior design elements. Additionally, the Language Lab will be equipped with 16 PCs, newly renovated interiors and modern furniture, transforming the space into a vibrant hub for digital learning.
Shri Ashok Kumar Malhotra, the founder of MBD Group, who once studied at Sain Dass Anglo Sanskrit Senior Secondary School, envisioned a future where education is accessible to every person. Continuing this legacy, the Group has expanded its presence across three continents and is the only publisher in India that offers books and digital resources for K-12 in multiple languages and educational boards.
Smt Satish Bala Malhotra, Chairperson of MBD Group, said, “Beginning the initiative from this school is particularly meaningful, as this is where my husband studied and the school remained very close to his heart. This school shaped him, and it remained a cherished place for him throughout his life. We always wanted to do something for this school and today it’s a dream come true for us.”
Ms Monica Malhotra Kandhari, Managing Director of MBD Group, added, “With the support of AASOKA, we are bringing cutting-edge educational tools and resources to schools across India. This initiative will empower students to explore new horizons in technology, robotics and digital literacy, preparing them for future challenges. We believe that by integrating modern technology with traditional learning, we can create a holistic educational experience that nurtures creativity, critical thinking and lifelong learning among students. I would also like to thank the Principal of Sain Dass Anglo Sanskrit Senior Secondary School for giving us this opportunity to set up the lab.
Ms Sonica Malhotra Kandhari, JMD of MBD Group said, “Our goal with this project is not only to modernise the learning environment but also to cultivate a culture of curiosity and innovation among students. By integrating the advanced Language Lab and digital resources, we hope to inspire students to explore new academic and career paths, ultimately contributing to the development of future leaders and innovators. This initiative underscores our belief that every student deserves access to the best educational tools and opportunities. The success of this and the previous Love to Learn initiatives motivate us to continue developing even more impactful projects in the future.”
The AASOKA Robotics & Coding Lab will serve as a cornerstone for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics education, providing students with hands-on experience that enhances their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. The Language Lab will offer a plethora of resources, including audio lessons, video lessons, role-play activities and adaptive tests, accessible through the AASOKA platform, creating a comprehensive learning environment.
“English teaching is particularly challenging because it is not the first language for many students. The new language lab will provide the necessary support and interactive tools to help these learners overcome language barriers and enhance their skills”, said Rakesh Sharma, Principal of Sain Dass Anglo Sanskrit Senior Secondary School.
MBD Group remains committed to its founder’s vision, continuously working towards creating an “MBD Product for every literate person.” The Group’s blended learning platform, AASOKA, has been widely acclaimed by schools, teachers, students and parents alike for its high-quality study materials and comprehensive range of educational products and services.
