In continuing with the pursuit and commitment to make a lasting impact on the lives of the economically weaker sections of the society SPARSH Foundation, the charitable wing of SPARSH Hospital, announces SPARSH Vachana, the annual initiative wherein 200 free surgeries will be conducted for the underprivileged children. The social initiative, which currently has a primary focus across Karnataka, will be extended nationwide as well for crucial cases. The program aims to complete all the surgeries by the end of this year.
Launched in the year 2007, SPARSH Vachana to date has performed 1500+ surgeries for children, primarily focusing on the Orthopaedic specialty. The program is expanding its horizons this year by offering a broader spectrum of medical specialties including Cardiac, Neuroscience, and Gastrointestinal procedures for the children.
Under this program, the SPARSH Foundation will provide all the necessary infrastructure and logistics, including operation theatres and wards. A dedicated team comprising operating surgeons, theatre staff, nursing staff, paramedical staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and dieticians, all operating under the umbrella of SPARSH Hospital, offer their services free of cost.  That will also include comprehensive post-operative care for as long as required.
Spearheading the initiative, Dr. Sharan Patil, Chairman and Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon, at SPARSH Hospital, Bangalore said, “SPARSH Vachana initiative embodies our ongoing commitment to bring together the finest clinical skills and cutting-edge technology to solve the most complex healthcare problems for those from humble backgrounds. Our foundation has always believed that no child should be denied access to quality medical treatment, regardless of their socio-economic background. We have made a meaningful impact to the future of our country by this initiative and with the addition of more specialties to this program, we are broadening our scope to address a wider range of medical needs for the children in need”.
By collaborating with leading healthcare professionals and SPARSH Hospital, the foundation aims to extend a healing touch to those in need thereby taking a significant step in addressing healthcare disparities among India’s most vulnerable populations.
