Blood on His Face, Silence in His Heart: Boy Witnesses Father’s Murder by Mother in Bihar

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a remote village of Bihar’s Purnea district, 12-year-old Shailendra was jolted awake by a violent scene—his mother, Usha Devi, allegedly attacked his father with a sharp implement in the middle of the night, flinging blood onto him. Shocked to the core, the boy later recounted the horror to relatives, prompting police involvement.

Blood Splashed on My Face: Boy Witnesses Father’s Murder by Mother

“At around 10:30, the blood came splashing down on my face. I saw my mother hitting my father’s neck,” he told NDTV, describing how a “dabiya” (sharp, garden-knife-like tool) was used to inflict fatal injuries on 45-year-old Balo Das.

Following the assault, Usha is said to have warned her son not to speak of the attack—or face a similar fate. Terrified, Shailendra awaited dawn before escaping to his aunt’s home, where the villagers were informed and police were alerted.

Land Dispute Sparked Frequent Fights Before Brutal Murder

Investigators learned that Das, a labourer who worked in Punjab, had recently returned home after discovering that Usha sold their land—apparently without his consent. This revelation reportedly led to repeated disputes between husband and wife.

Authorities claim Usha, aged 35, confessed to the murder and admitted acting under the influence of her paramour, another villager. She allegedly intended to elope, and the clandestine land sale formed part of her plan—until Das’s unexpected return disrupted everything.

Mother Killed Father Under Influence: Son

The child bore witness to this betrayal firsthand. “Mother killed father under someone’s influence. Whereas, my father never beat her,” Shailendra remarked, reflecting both his confusion and hurt.

Police have taken Usha Devi into custody and are conducting a thorough investigation. The deeply disturbing case—featuring domestic violence, child trauma, and secret romantic entanglements—has left the rural community shaken and searching for answers.
