Indian quick-commerce service Blinkit launched an ambulance service in Gurugram on Thursday to cater to the residents’ need for on time access to healthcare. This service enables Blinkit users to call an ambulance to their doorstep in just 10 minutes in case of any emergency. As of now, the first five ambulances launched by Zomato’s quick commerce arm are available in select areas of Gurgaon.
Each ambulance is equipped with basic medical equipments, a paramedic, an assistant and a trained driver. Even though, the service has started with Gurugram, the company plans to expand the services to all the major cities of India in the next couple of years.
Blinkit’s Founder and CEO Albinder Dhindsa took to social media platform X to announce the news. While the CEO did not mention how much the consumer will have to pay for the ambulance service, he said it will be available “at an affordable cost for customers” because his goal is not to make profit through this.

Announcement by Blinkit Founder and CEO

In a long post, Albinder Dhindsa wrote, “Ambulance in 10 minutes.
We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities. The first five ambulances will be on the road in Gurugram starting today. As we expand the service to more areas, you will start seeing an option to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the @letsblinkit app.
Some more info-
• Our ambulances are equipped with essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen cylinders, AED (Automated External Defibrillator), stretcher, monitor, suction machine, and essential emergency medicines and injections.
• Each ambulance has a paramedic, an assistant and a trained driver to make sure we are able to deliver the highest quality of service in time of need.
• Profit is not a goal here. We will operate this service at an affordable cost for customers and invest in really solving this critical problem for the long term.
• We are carefully scaling this service up, as it is both important and new to us. Our aim is to expand to all major cities over the next two years.
Let’s do our bit and make way for an ambulance always. You never know when you may save a life.”

Blinkit’s large order fleet

Recently, Blinkit rolled out a large order fleet in Delhi and Gurugram. This new fleet of all-electric vehicles is designed to handle large orders like electronics and party essentials.
“Introducing Blinkit’s large order fleet! These are all-electric vehicles designed to handle all large (electronics/party orders) orders. Currently live in Delhi and Gurugram. Will be launching this in other cities very soon! Going to deliver the air hockey table order in one of these and then head to office,” Dhindsa, announced via an X post last week.
