Bihar Elections: Voter goes booth to cast vote riding on buffalo

The CSR Journal Magazine

Voting is going on today (Thursday) for the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections on 121 seats in 18 districts. In this context, voting is also taking place in Vaishali district today and a very special picture of democracy has emerged from here.

Kedar Yadav looked excited

A voter named Kedar Yadav reached the polling booth in Vaishali’s Bhagwanpur riding on a buffalo to cast his vote. During this, he said with great enthusiasm that the great festival of democracy has arrived after five years. “Today I could not find a cart or horse, so being a farmer, I came riding on a buffalo to cast my vote,” said Yadav. He also appealed to the rest of the people to cast their votes.

A buffalo ride

Kedar Yadav said that today due to voting, no vehicles or horses are moving on the road but it is also necessary to cast vote. We are farmers and raise buffaloes, so I made this my ride. He further said that it is important for everyone to vote.

While usually leaders go to the polling booth in luxury vehicles, this desi style of Kedar Yadav became a topic of discussion among the people. This video of his is becoming increasingly viral on social media. The people of the village laughed at his style and many people took out their mobile phones and started making videos. Kedar Yadav said smilingly, “The true identity of the village is buffalo and plough, today I have come out with the same identity to participate in this festival of democracy.” He also appealed to the people to vote in maximum numbers.

First phase of assembly election started in Bihar on Thursday. Amidst strict security arrangements, in the first phase, voters of 121 assembly constituencies in the state, including 14 in Patna, will first cast their vote. Voting will take place from 7 am to 6 pm. However, voting will take place only till 5 pm at all the booths of five assembly constituencies, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Mahishi, Tarapur, Munger and Jamalpur and 56 booths of Suryagarha.
