Tensions continue among the parties of the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ in Bihar over seat-sharing. At Hotel Maurya in Patna, before a press conference called by Mukesh Sahni, president of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), party workers clashed with each other. They grabbed each other by the collars and threw chairs.

Sahni’s demand

According to sources, Sahni has demanded at least 24 seats out of 243. Tejashwi Yadav is insisting on giving him only 15 seats. Sahni is firm on getting 8–9 seats. A press conference had been scheduled at Hotel Maurya at 12 noon, but it was later postponed.

Elections to the 243-member Bihar assembly will be held in two phases – on November 6 and November 11, while the votes will be counted on November 14.

Fight between Congress and BJP

Meanwhile, at the Bachwara constituency in Begusarai, Congress and BJP candidates arrived together at the Teghra sub-divisional office to file their nominations. During this, workers from both parties clashed. Supporters from both sides raised slogans, after which the police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the crowd.

The altercation erupted when Congress Youth State President Garibdas and Bihar Sports Minister Surendra Mehta, also the NDA candidate, arrived with their respective supporters to file nominations for the Bachhwara Assembly constituency.

What began as heated sloganeering soon turned into a violent scuffle, with both groups engaging in pushing, punching, and kicking. To disperse the crowd and regain control, police resorted to a lathi charge. Several individuals sustained minor injuries in the brief but intense confrontation.
