Taking a big step in the field of education, the Bihar government has announced an ambitious scheme to teach artificial intelligence (AI) and digital skills to more than one crore children from class 6 to 12. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Education Department has completed its preparation and soon there will be an agreement with the Digital Education Program of Adobe Company.
Initiative as per the new education policy
According to the new education policy 2020, this initiative will start as a pilot project from 2025-26 and will be implemented in the entire state by 2026-27.
This scheme is part of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) vision, in which it is said to prepare the students for the technical world by not limiting only book knowledge. CBSE has already made AI a subject from class 9 to 12. Bihar now wants to advance the children of government schools in technical education by adopting the same model.
Under the scheme, students will be taught important capabilities like Artificial Intelligence, Computer Skills, Data Analysis, Creative Thinking and Problem-Solving. Adobe will have interactive learning on the digital platform, which will include visual, audio and multimedia content.
The Department of Education aims to identify students patterns, analyze data and be able to estimate future prospects.
When and how will the scheme be implemented?
The Education Department has planned to start a pilot project in selected schools from 2025-26 session. After this, by 2026-27, this program will be implemented in middle and higher secondary schools across Bihar.
After signing the MoU with Adobe Company, training programs will start for both teachers and students. The Department of Education has already used teaching 28 lakh children from 3D multimedia in 6,000 schools under the ‘Upgradation Model’. Now the same model is being carried forward on a large scale.
Government claims: Children’s future secured
Nitish government says that this initiative will prepare the children of Bihar for future jobs and career. Children studying in rural areas will no longer be behind in competition by learning digital skills. An official said that “our aim is to learn computers, data and artificial intelligence as easy as children studying in cities. It is a historical step towards empowering the new generation of Bihar.”
