A woman appearing for the Home Guard recruitment process in Bodh Gaya was allegedly raped in a moving ambulance. The woman was gang-raped by the ambulance driver and a technician while being transported to a hospital. This comes after she fainted during a physical test. The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage, took place at the BMP-3 parade ground. The local authorities confirmed the incident on Friday.

According to reports, the woman was among several candidates participating in a physical fitness test as part of the Home Guard recruitment drive. During the race, she reportedly collapsed due to exhaustion. Event organizers arranged for her to be taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance stationed on the ground.

Gang-Raped in Moving Ambulance

According to a statement by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anand Kumar, the woman later informed authorities that she had been sexually assaulted during the ambulance ride by both the driver and the technician. The accused were identified as Vinay Kumar (the ambulance driver) and Ajit Kumar (the technician).

Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Bodh Gaya police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by SDPO Saurabh Jaiswal. The team examined CCTV footage from the parade ground and surrounding areas, which helped confirm the presence and identity of the suspects. Both men were arrested within two hours of the FIR being filed.

Forensic Investigation Underway

A forensic team was deployed to gather critical evidence from the ambulance and the crime scene. Investigators have collected samples and statements, and officials confirmed that a charge sheet would be filed shortly. SSP Anand Kumar said that the case would be expedited through a fast-track court, ensuring swift legal proceedings.

This incident has brought renewed attention to the need for better oversight of medical and emergency service personnel, particularly in high-pressure public events. Authorities and women’s rights activists have called for mandatory background checks and stricter monitoring of recruitment logistics.

Similar Incident in Uttar Pradesh

In a similar case from Indiranagar, Lucknow, a school van driver was arrested for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl inside the vehicle. When the child informed her mother, the accused reportedly threatened them, and school officials failed to act. Following the complaint, the police arrested the driver and filed a case against the school manager for negligence.

These repeated incidents have reignited public discourse on the safety of women and children in institutional settings. Experts are urging state governments to implement stronger preventive measures and accountability protocols across education, healthcare, and recruitment systems.
