Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has publicly challenged the current Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to identify a significant development project completed in Bhiwani over the past 12 years. Speaking to the media in Bhiwani, Hooda accused the ruling BJP government of failing to meet the needs of the populace, specifically highlighting issues regarding law and order, escalating debt, and the agricultural distress faced by farmers.

Hooda called upon the Chief Minister, stating, “You are in Bhiwani; name just one work done here in 12 years.” He further insisted that if Saini could demonstrate even a single achievement, he would acknowledge it. According to Hooda, Haryana’s present situation starkly contrasts its past glory, initially marked by high per capita income during the Congress administration.

Addressing the ongoing financial challenges faced by the government, Hooda claimed that Haryana’s debt has swelled to approximately Rs 5.5 lakh crore, suggesting that the administration is now compelled to borrow funds merely to service existing debts. He warned that the state’s financial stability is alarming and highlights a detrimental trend in governance.

Concerns Regarding Agriculture and Employment

Hooda critiqued the government’s claims of significant advancements and enhanced support for farmers, alleging that the promises of doubling farmers’ incomes remain unfulfilled. He urged the government to account for the rising costs of agricultural inputs that farmers have been grappling with. By juxtaposing promises made against current realities, Hooda indicated that the government’s performance falls short.

Moreover, Hooda took a critical stance on the issue of employment, noting that despite the promises made by the BJP government, youth continue to encounter challenges in securing stable jobs. He drew attention to the plight of sanitation workers, advocating for a clear regularisation policy that the government has neglected, and referenced the Congress administration’s approach which regularised employees after three years of service.

Such issues form part of a broader critique Hooda made regarding the employment landscape in Haryana, reiterating the necessity for the regularisation of existing personnel as well as constant recruitment processes to aid the unemployed youth.

Law and Order Issues and Assembly Protocols

Hooda also directed his criticisms towards the rising crime rates and deteriorating law and order situation in Haryana. He posed questions to the government regarding its handling of public safety and security, arguing that the current administration has failed to maintain order and protect citizens effectively.

In a related context, Hooda addressed concerns over recent disturbances during assembly sessions, where he alleged that he was barred from entering the premises. He confirmed having approached the Assembly Speaker seeking clarification on these restrictions but claimed to have received no satisfactory response.

Additionally, in response to inquiries about notifications sent to INLD leader Abhay Chautala, Hooda clarified that communication had already been initiated and would be reinforced if necessary. Throughout his discourse, Hooda consistently underscored the challenges faced by Haryana, pointing to the government’s failure in addressing the economic, agricultural, and governance crises affecting the state.
