Bharat Taxi Partners with Paytm for Enhanced UPI Payment Solutions

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bharat Taxi has announced a strategic partnership with Paytm, allowing customers to utilize UPI payment methods for their rides. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, aims to create a more efficient experience for both riders and drivers. By integrating Paytm’s services, Bharat Taxi seeks to streamline payment processes, enabling customers to pay conveniently within the app or through various Paytm payment solutions such as QR codes and card machines. In addition to enhancing payment capabilities, the alliance will facilitate the onboarding of drivers, underscoring Bharat Taxi’s commitment to a driver-centric approach.

Focus on Driver Support and Benefits

The partnership with Paytm will not only aid in payment solutions but will also support essential services for drivers, including insurance. Bharat Taxi emphasizes a pro-driver model that allows them to retain full control over their earnings. Unlike traditional ride-hailing services, Bharat Taxi does not impose commission fees, permitting drivers to keep 100 percent of their fare earnings. However, drivers are required to pay a nominal fee, estimated at around Rs 30 per day, for access to the platform’s services. Bharat Taxi positions itself as an empowering alternative in the market, which is noteworthy given the ongoing competition with larger operators like Uber and Ola.

Service Features and Fare Structure

With the implementation of the Paytm partnership, riders can expect the elimination of surge pricing, along with more affordable fare options. This adjustment positions Bharat Taxi as a competitive service among traditional ride-hailing platforms. The collaboration also gives rise to a Bharat Taxi mini app within Paytm, contributing to increased visibility for the ride-hailing service. Various ride options, including AC and non-AC cabs, auto-rickshaws, and bike taxis, will be available to users, offering a breadth of choices similar to those provided by Uber and Ola.

Recent Initiatives and Safety Features

Bharat Taxi has previously partnered with the Airports Authority of India to introduce surge-free taxi services at airports, ensuring fixed pricing for users traveling frequently in these areas. Safety remains a priority for the service; it features built-in safety measures such as a dedicated helpline. Collaboration with local law enforcement has led to the establishment of 35 special booths to address passenger concerns effectively. The platform ensures that all drivers undergo thorough verification processes aimed at bolstering passenger security during rides.

Launch and Growth Journey

Bharat Taxi is a government-supported ride-hailing service that became officially available to the public in select cities, including New Delhi, after a beta phase which began late last year. The official launch took place on February 5, 2026, presided over by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. The service operates on a cooperative model, featuring drivers referred to as Sarathis. This model is designed to provide drivers with respect and a sense of ownership over their work. As Bharat Taxi scales its operations, it aims to redefine the ride-hailing experience by prioritizing both customer and driver satisfaction.
