Auqaf  Islamia Khrew Thursday rubbished the claims of cement factory owners of providing them 4 crore rupees as CSR funds annually for development of the town and termed it as a ‘white lie’.

The rejoinder from the Auqaf Islamia Khrew  (AIK) has come after cement factory owners had revealed before the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce that they have been providing the locals four crore rupees annually as CSR funds for the up-gradation of roads, health and education.

The Auqaf officials called the revelations as baseless saying, “We want to make it clear that till date Khrew town has not received even a single penny as CSR funds from these cement owners,” said M Ashraf Bhat Chairman AIK.

The Auqaf officials demanded an audit of accountability on amount slashed as CSR funds by these 7 factory owners from past 10 years to know the legal income/ expenditure specifications to disclose the concocted statements of these cement factory owners.

Auqaf officials instead accused these cement factory owners of resorting to illegal mining saying, “We put it on record that none of these factory owners possess clear cut NOC for carrying out mining work and that they are resorting to illegal mining and government too is turning blind.”

They castigated government saying that the illegal mining and pollution that these cement plants emanate violates forest norms, wildlife protection norms and environment norms to which government has been insincere and added that due to these cement plants almost 50 thousand acres of saffron land has been rendered barren.
