On February 28, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially inaugurated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from the Dhekiajuli constituency situated in Sonitpur district. This initiative aims to bolster the party’s outreach as it prepares for the impending Assembly elections. At the commencement of this initial phase of the march, the Chief Minister expressed his desire for public support for the party’s future initiatives.

Chief Minister Seeks Public Blessings

In his address to the media, Sarma stated, “The BJP’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra commences today. I am seeking the blessings of the people of Assam.” This event marks the beginning of the party’s efforts to connect with constituents and gather support for upcoming electoral challenges.

Launch of the Yatra Across Assam

In conjunction with the inaugural event, the Assam BJP has officially rolled out the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ statewide as part of its strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections. The initial phase of this journey is scheduled to run from February 28 to March 9. BJP Member of Parliament Pradan Baruah, present during the launch, shared the multi-faceted objectives of the program, emphasizing the importance of interaction between the Chief Minister and the general public.

Engagement with the Community

Baruah noted, “The Jan Ashirwad Yatra is beginning today. Our Chief Minister, along with national leaders and state committee members, will engage directly with citizens. The aim is for our Chief Minister to connect with the populace, convey information about the accomplishments over the past decade, particularly highlighting the developments achieved in the last five years under his leadership.” The overarching goal is to foster public support for the party as it navigates the political landscape ahead of the elections.

Yatra’s Daily Outreach Objectives

The yatra is set to launch from the Gupteshwar Temple, with plans to engage one lakh individuals daily. The Assam BJP has declared that the eight-day initial phase of the program will continue until March 9. This outreach aims to communicate the developmental and welfare initiatives implemented by both the Central and State Governments to the residents of Assam.

Electoral Campaign Preparations

In a related development, Chief Minister Sarma previously unveiled the BJP’s “Election Songs” intended for the assembly election campaign. On February 27, during a ceremony at the BJP State Headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati, he officially released three songs aimed at energizing the party’s campaign for the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly Election in 2026.
