‘Ashok sir touched my breast and he threatened me to stay silent’: Dharamshala student’s video emerges after death

A video with shocking details of ragging, inappropriate touching has surfaced. This video is of the 19-year-old Himachal college student who died recently after sexual assault and brutal ragging. The video recorded just before her death, has shocking details of inappropriately touching by her professor. She shared instances when she was mentally harassed by the professor and she even spoke about his behaviour like touching her breast. “Ajeeb ajeeb harkate karte the. Peeche padh jaate the (He would do strange things, he repeatedly accosted me),” the 19-year-old is heard sharing the odd deal in response to a question she was asked by a woman. She even shared that she was threatened by the professor to keep this to herself. When the interviewer asked about the name of the professor, she said, “Ashok sir”.

Police book professor, three seniors under BNS and anti-ragging law

Yesterday after the 19-year-old passed away, the accused professor and three seniors (girls) were booked under the charges of sexual assault and ragging. The complaint booked by the victim’s father read that her daughter was beaten on September 18, by her three seniors named Harshita, Aakriti and Komolika and her professor Ashok Kumar, did obscene acts with her.

In the complaint, the 19-year-old’s father wrote that he was harassed and that led to her remaining frightened and mentally disturbed most of the time, and this resulted in her health being affected. She was first treated in Himachal Pradesh and later when her condition wasn’t improving, she was taken to Ludhiana, where she breathed last on December 26, 2025.

Police Officer Ashok Rattan investigating the matter said that the accused have been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Himachal Pradesh Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Act. Rattan further shared that the initial investigation was in connection to ragging, but as the sexual assault has been registered, now the scope of investigation has been widened.

College denies receiving complaint; cites academic failure

The principal of the Government Degree College Dharamshala, Rakesh Pathania said that the college had never received any complaint from the 19-year-old, nor her parents. As per the principal, the 19-year-old was not able to perform well in her academics, she had failed in three subjects and she wasn’t promoted to second year. “She approached the professor who teaches Geography. It was explained to her that she had to take admission to the first year again. She was also depressed because of her results and felt we were deliberately denying her admission in the second year. Based on the information given to me by teachers, she has not attended classes since July 29,” the principal noted.
