Apple Set to Unveil iPhone 18 Pro models Soon with New Features and Design

The CSR Journal Magazine

Apple is gearing up for the release of its upcoming iPhone models, anticipated to be announced in less than six months. Traditionally, the tech giant introduces its flagship devices in September, and 2026 is expected to adhere to this schedule. With last year’s iPhone 17 series achieving significant success, particularly the Pro models, Apple faces the challenge of meeting high expectations with the new iPhone 18 Pro series.

Design and Display Specifications

According to various reports, the design of the iPhone 18 Pro models may closely resemble that of the iPhone 17 Pro. The new series is likely to feature an aluminium unibody and a prominent camera plateau at the rear. However, a fresh aesthetic approach is anticipated, as the iPhone 18 Pro may present a unified single-tone colour scheme, deviating from the two-tone design of its predecessor. The potential inclusion of burgundy or a deep red shade is generating buzz among enthusiasts.

In terms of display, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to maintain a 6.3-inch OLED screen, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max will likely showcase a similar 6.9-inch OLED panel. Notably, a leak suggests that the Dynamic Island cutout on both models may reduce in size by about 35 percent compared to last year, thanks to the relocation of Face ID sensors underneath the display.

Improved Performance and Battery Life

Significant performance enhancements are expected in the iPhone 18 Pro models, powered by the forthcoming A20 Pro chipset. Built on a 2nm process, this new chip is anticipated to deliver up to 15 percent faster processing speeds and 30 percent better energy efficiency compared to the previous A19 Pro. Furthermore, the iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature a larger battery capacity, estimated to be between 5,100 and 5,200mAh, compared to the 5,088mAh battery in the eSIM-only version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the 4,823mAh battery found in the Indian variant.

Camera Enhancements

The camera system of the iPhone 18 Pro models is expected to retain the triple-rear camera setup, comprising three 48-megapixel sensors—a primary lens, an ultrawide lens, and a 4x telephoto lens. Reports suggest that Apple may incorporate a variable aperture feature in the main lens, enhancing control over exposure and depth of field. Additionally, improvements in low-light performance are anticipated for the main and telephoto sensors, potentially facilitated by a new three-layer stacked sensor, which may be supplied by Samsung. The front-facing camera is expected to maintain the existing 18-megapixel centre stage configuration from last year.

Expected Pricing and Launch Details

The announcement of the iPhone 18 Pro models is likely to coincide with the rumored launch of an iPhone foldable device in September of this year. While exact pricing details remain unconfirmed, it is speculated that the cost will align with that of the previous models. For context, the iPhone 17 Pro was priced at Rs 1,34,900, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max debuted at Rs 1,49,900.
