The CSR Journal Magazine

BJP Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur launched the ‘Yuva Changemaker Fellowship Scholarship Programme’ on Thursday, February 26 aiming to enhance youth involvement in politics. This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s call for integrating one lakh young individuals into political processes. Thakur stressed the necessity for younger generations to actively engage in governance and nation-building, given India’s status as the largest democracy with the world’s highest youth population.

Launch Details and Participation

During the program’s introduction, Thakur highlighted its objective to create a structured platform for youth to immerse themselves in public life and policy discussions. In the first 20 days post-launch, over 8,000 youths from Himachal Pradesh registered, showcasing a significant interest in engaging with political affairs. Participants will be designated as “Youth Change Makers,” gaining access to various public platforms that promote leadership, community service, and policy awareness.

Eligibility and Financial Support

The fellowship is open to individuals aged 16 to 29, with registration conducted online. Those selected for the program will receive annual financial assistance of ₹1,21,000. This financial provision seeks to empower young voices and facilitate their contribution to democratic processes. Thakur aims to nurture the next generation of leaders through this initiative, creating meaningful engagement opportunities in public matters.

Political Context and Recent Statements

Previously, on February 20, Thakur made remarks directed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, suggesting he should apologize to the nation following protests by Indian Youth Congress members at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. Thakur condemned the protests, labeling them as “shameful” and questioning Congress’s commitment to national development. In a video statement, he criticized the Congress party for allegedly promoting indecent slogans against Prime Minister Modi, asserting that it is vital for political parties to support national progress.
