Amitabh Bachchan Admits Abhishek Became Victim of Unnecessary ‘Nepotism’

Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has always shown unwavering support for his son Abhishek Bachchan. The Bollywood icon recently took to social media platform X, to endorse a post that defended Abhishek from the negativity surrounding nepotism. The post praised his son for the impressive body of work he has built over the years, despite being unfairly labelled as a victim of nepotism. Amitabh, in his tweet, expressed his agreement, stating, “I feel the same… and not just because I am his father.”

Recently, Amitabh Bachchan had shared a heartfelt message for son Abhishek after his appearance at a Mumbai red carpet event. During the event, Abhishek had been seen posing in a sharp white tuxedo, and Amitabh reposted a video, showering praises on his son. In the post, Bachchan wrote, “Abhishek, you are extraordinary – How you adapt and change with each film character is an art, which is incredible… love you Bhaiyu”.

Abhishek Finds Father’s Praise ‘Overwhelming’

Meanwhile, Abhishek has expressed that he sometimes finds his father’s praise overwhelming. In a recent interview, he mentioned that while it is wonderful, he occasionally finds it embarrassing, adding, “I told him once, ‘Hey, can you just back off a bit?’ But he’s a father, and I now understand that emotion myself.”

Abhishek on the work front

Abhishek Bachchan will be seen in an upcoming film, “Be Happy”, a relationship drama directed by Remo D’Souza. Abhishek will portray a father in a heartfelt story about a father-daughter relationship.

Well, this isn’t the first time legendary Actor Amitabh has publicly lauded Abhishek’s work. Earlier, he praised Abhishek’s performance in the critically acclaimed film “I Want to Talk”, where his portrayal of a terminally ill Bengali patient garnered widespread attention.

Abhishek’s Bollywood Career

Abhishek Bachchan began his career with the film ‘Refugee’ in 2000. While early hits like ‘Dhoom’ series (2004, 2006, 2013), Sarkar (2005), ‘Bluffmaster’ (2005), ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ and ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa kehna’ were followed by a brief career slump. However, Abhishek has found success again with films such as ‘Ludo’, ‘The Big Bull’, and ‘Bob Biswas’.
