Picture this — you’re sitting in a cold hotel room somewhere in Europe, miles away from home, holding a bowl of bland noodles. All you can think of is a steaming plate of dal-chawal or that buttery pav bhaji your mom makes on Sundays. For Amit and Shalu Murarka, that moment of homesick hunger wasn’t just a craving — it was the beginning of something extraordinary.
The foodie couple, who love both travel and ghar ka khana, found themselves repeatedly missing the taste of home while exploring new places. No matter how fancy the restaurant or exotic the cuisine, nothing could match the comfort of simple Indian food — the kind that hugs your heart as much as your stomach.
So one day, between packing suitcases and planning their next trip, they asked themselves a question: Why can’t home-cooked meals travel with us?
That’s how Spice Up Foods came to life — a brand born out of longing, love, and a deep desire to bring “home” wherever you go.
When homesickness met innovation
The idea sounded simple: ready-to-eat Indian meals that actually taste homemade. But making it happen? Not so simple. Amit and Shalu spent months experimenting in their kitchen — cooking, testing, failing, and trying again. They didn’t want to create another packet meal full of preservatives and artificial flavours. They wanted something that would make you close your eyes and say, “Ah, just like home.”
That’s when they discovered the magic of freeze-drying — a process that removes moisture from freshly cooked food while keeping all its nutrients, aroma, and texture intact. The result? Meals that stay perfectly fresh for up to six months — without refrigeration or preservatives.
All you have to do is add hot water, stir, and within minutes — fluffy poha, creamy rajma-chawal, or spicy pav bhaji is ready, just like your mom made it.
