Afghanistan Cricket Captain Rashid Khan Confirms Second Marriage

The CSR Journal Magazine

Afghanistan cricket captain Rashid Khan has publicly confirmed his second marriage, putting an end to circulating social media speculations. Videos and pictures had emerged showing Rashid seated beside a woman in traditional Afghan attire, leading many to question his marital status.

Rashid Reveals Marriage on Instagram

Rashid revealed on Instagram that he married on August 2, 2025. “On August 2nd 2025, I began a new and meaningful chapter of my life. I had my nikkah done and married a woman who embodies the love, peace and partnership I always hoped for. I recently took my wife to a charity event, and it’s unfortunate to see assumptions being made from something so simple. The truth is straightforward, she is my wife, and we stand together with nothing to hide. To everyone who has shown kindness, support and understanding, thank you,” he wrote.

This is Rashid’s second marriage, following his first wedding in October 2024 in Kabul, which coincided with the weddings of his three brothers, Amir Khalil, Zakiullah, and Raza Khan. While he did not reveal his new wife’s nationality, sources indicate that she is Afghan and resides abroad.

The video sparking the rumours was filmed at the Rashid Khan Charity Foundation launch in the Netherlands, which aimed to support Afghan communities through initiatives in education, healthcare, and clean water. Rashid said that the assumptions about the video were unfounded, emphasising that the woman featured is indeed his spouse.

Rashid Khan Tops T20I Wicket Charts

On the cricketing front, Rashid remains a key figure for Afghanistan. He is the leading wicket-taker in T20 Internationals, with 182 wickets in 108 matches at an average of 13.69, including two five-wicket hauls. Despite his efforts, Afghanistan did not reach the semi-finals in the recent Asia Cup.

In One Day Internationals, Rashid recently equalled Pakistani legends Waseem Akram and Saqlain Mushtaq by taking five wickets for the sixth time during a match against Bangladesh at Sheikh Zaid Stadium. His performance, combined with a 95-run innings from Ibrahim Zadran, helped Afghanistan win the series 2-0.

Rashid is also known for his lighter moments on the field. In the Asia Cup clash against Sri Lanka, he humorously requested a review after being bowled, having scored 24 runs off 23 balls before being deceived by a slower ball yorker.
