Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko was arrested by Kochi police on Saturday after a detailed four-hour interrogation, days after he allegedly fled from a hotel during a drug raid. He has been charged under Sections 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act, related to drug use and criminal conspiracy, with further legal procedures and a medical examination pending.

The actor, aged 41, was summoned for questioning based on a formal notice issued by the Ernakulam North Police. According to officials, the notice was handed over to his family in Thrissur after he was unavailable at home. Chacko was required to appear before the Sub-Inspector on Saturday for questioning regarding his suspected escape during the anti-drug operation.

DANSAF Conducted Raid

The controversy began when the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) conducted a late-night raid at a hotel in Kaloor around 10:45 pm on Wednesday. Although the primary suspect was not found at the location, the police discovered Chacko’s name in the hotel records. Officers then attempted to approach his room, but the actor allegedly escaped the premises. CCTV footage reportedly captures the moment he fled, which is now part of the investigation.

Police confirmed that while no narcotics were found in the hotel room, Chacko’s actions raised suspicion. A case linked to his escape wasn’t initially filed, but his appearance in the hotel log and subsequent evasion led to the summons and arrest.

Vincy Aloshious Names Shine Tom Chacko in Misconduct Complaint

Amidst the growing spotlight, actor Vincy Aloshious, who recently won a National Award, had earlier made statements about unprofessional behaviour on set from a co-actor believed to be under the influence of drugs. While she initially withheld the name, she later lodged a complaint with the Kerala Film Chamber and the film industry’s Internal Complaints Committee, identifying Chacko in connection with the allegations.

The alleged incident occurred during the shoot of the yet-to-be-released film Soothravakyam. Vincy stated that the actor’s behavior had made it extremely difficult for her to work. However, she soon withdrew her complaint, citing that her identity and the accused’s name were leaked without consent, which led to a breach of trust.

In a separate development, Shine Tom Chacko was also named by a female drug peddler who was recently arrested. She claimed to have supplied narcotics to him and fellow actor Sreenath Bhasi, adding another layer to the ongoing investigation.

Chacko, who gained fame through his role in the 2014 Malayalam hit Ithihasa, now faces serious legal challenges as law enforcement continues its inquiry. Officials have stated that the investigation will proceed with further evidence collection, and appropriate action will follow based on the findings.
