Eminent personalities of the corporate world have come forward to extend their support for the voter awareness campaign lead by the state election commission of Maharashtra.

Business giants like Ratan Tata from the Tata Group, Anand Mahindra from Mahindra & Mahindra Group, Harsh Goenka from RPG Industries met the Maharashtra state election commission JS Sahariya.

“When compared to rural areas, voter turnout in urban localities is quite less. We are trying different ways to bring about a rise in this figure. Hoardings, street plays, social media, radio and many other ways are being used extensively to raise awareness among the citizens on exercising voting right. We have urged corporate houses to expansively participate in the Voter Awareness Campaign and support it in the ways they can,” said Saharaiya.

Corporate heads including Ratan Tata, Anand Mahindra and Harsh Goenka among others visited the office of state election commission in Mumbai at separate timings. Employees of corporate firms will be provided with specific time to cast their votes on the day of election. In order to raise awareness and encourage employees to vote, posters, banners and informative text will be exhibited in the office premises.

Close to 10 crore voters will exercise their franchise in a two-phased election to 10 municipal corporations, 26 zilla parishads and 283 panchayat samitis across the state of Maharashtra in the month of February.
