Tamil Nadu, India: HCCB, one of India’s leading FMCG companies, in partnership with the Y4D Foundation, has activated a Tailoring Training Unit to empower women from the local community in Thoothukudi. Inaugurated in the presence of Smt. P Geetha Jeevan, Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, Government of Tamil Nadu, the initiative aims to equip 40 women with specialised tailoring skills, enabling them to achieve economic independence and professional growth.
The Tailoring Training Unit is a comprehensive 40-day program that not only provides the essential skills for employment but also imparts entrepreneurial knowledge to help participants start their own businesses. HCCB will provide each participant with a personal sewing machine, while the Department of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, Government of Tamil Nadu, will offer additional support including materials and access to immediate employment opportunities through facilitated work orders.
