CSR: IMD and Swasti Launch Innovative Weather and Disease Tracker at Catalysing Social Impact 2024, Sign MoU

To address the pressing challenges of the climate crisis, Precision Health Platform incubated by Swasti, The Health Catalyst and India Meteorological Department (IMD) unveiled a Weather and Disease Tracker Prototype at the Catalysing Social Impact 2024 event held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The launch event in the presence of senior officials from India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Swasti Health Catalyst, marks a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both the entities, establishing a strategic cooperation to improve public health surveillance and response.
This innovative tool launched by Precision Action Towards Climate and Health (PATCH), a key initiative of the Precision Health Platformis intended to identify correlations between weather patterns and disease alarms, providing a proactive approach to public health management amidst climate-related threats. Precision Health Platform by Swasti is a public health preparedness platform catering to the marginalized through comprehensive yet decentralized disease surveillance systems and intelligence gathering through community participation.
Dr. Angela Chaudhuri, Chief Catalyst of Swasti, The Health Catalyst, stated, “The Precision Health Platform is an initiative designed to support public health preparedness and prevent future pandemics. This platform, initiated by Swasti, the Health Catalyst offers a city or state-level health and wellbeing real-time insights into climate-related health risks, facilitating early detection and response. The platform prioritizes actions and responses while incorporating risk communication strategies to aid stakeholders in disseminating warning signals and implementing response measures for climate-related risks.
Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a statement, “Recognizing the urgency of the climate crisis, our collaboration with Swasti to launch the Weather and Disease Tracker Prototype aims to provide a comprehensive relief tracker and raise timely, widespread awareness.
