CSR: Amazon India felicitates beneficiaries of scholarship for education of children of delivery associates

Bangalore, India: Amazon India felicitated the beneficiaries of its Pratidhi Scholarship program, which is designed to support the educational needs of the children of its delivery associates. Launched in 2022, the scholarship is open to all delivery associates in India under the Delivery Service Partner and Amazon Flex programs.  Today, some of the beneficiaries were felicitated in the presence of Mrs. K.S. Lathakumari, IAS, Director, Directorate for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens, Government of Karnataka, and Liju Thomas, HR Director, Operations, Amazon India at an event held today in Bangalore.
Hundreds of children of delivery associates studying in class 2 – 12, use the scholarship to support their school fees, additional coaching classes, purchase of books and other educational material, library membership, bus or train passes, among other education related expenses. Under this program, each child receives a scholarship for the academic year, and based on their performance, the scholarship is renewed on a yearly basis. To avail of the scholarship, delivery associates sent in their nominations, which were shortlisted by FFE (Foundation for Excellence) independently basis of a pre-established criteria including but not limited to the academic performance of the child, and the economic status of the parents.
The Pratidhi Scholarship is a part of Amazon India’s commitment to creating access to quality education for the children of its delivery associates.
The children of delivery associates under the Delivery Service Partner and Amazon Flex programs, who were provided with the Pratidhi Scholarship by Amazon, were felicitated in the presence of Mrs. K.S. Lathakumari, IAS, Director, Directorate for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens, Government of Karnataka, and Liju Thomas, HR Director, Operations, Amazon India on April 06, 2023.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Liju Thomas, HR Director, Operations, Amazon India said, “We constantly look at ways to support our delivery associates who play a key role in ensuring a great shopping experience for our customers. Through the Pratidhi Scholarship program, we aim to support the children of our delivery associates to achieve their academic goals and follow their ambition with a clear vision. We are committed to creating a stronger and brighter future for the families of our delivery associates.”
Anitha Munivelu, a delivery associate with Amazon’s delivery service partner, said, “I am happy that Amazon is providing this scholarship to help my child continue his education. This scholarship will not only help my child’s education but will also serve as a motivation to do well in studies and build a future”.
In line with its leadership principle of ‘Success and Scale Bring Broad Responsibility’, Amazon recognizes its responsibility to positively impact the well-being of associates across the community. In 2014, Amazon began a community engagement program in areas around its Fulfilment Centers in Mumbai and Delhi NCR. From then onwards, the program has gradually scaled to more than 300 locations around Amazon’s Fulfilment and Sortation Centers, Delivery stations and UFF. As a part of its good neighbor program, Amazon has continued to organize programs around seven major areas namely education, health & hygiene, women empowerment, skilling & entrepreneurship, environment, road safety and disaster response.
