Tejashwi Yadav Alleges JD(U) Has Transformed Into a BJP Faction

The CSR Journal Magazine

Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in Bihar’s Assembly and a prominent member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has alleged that the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) has essentially turned into a faction of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This assertion comes in light of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar preparing to lead an important Cabinet meeting scheduled for April 14.

Speaking to ANI on April 13, Yadav expressed discontent regarding Kumar’s potential ascendance to the Rajya Sabha. He stated that the departure marks a significant change in the dynamics of the JD(U) and a weakening of its distinct identity as a political party.

Yadav voiced concerns that the current political structure has been influenced by what he described as “BJP agents” working within the JD(U). He lamented the circumstances surrounding Kumar’s political career and the nature of his transition from Chief Minister to a Rajya Sabha member, suggesting this decision was not voluntary.

Cabinet Meeting on April 14 Expected to Be Significant

As the political climate in Bihar intensifies, the upcoming Cabinet meeting led by Nitish Kumar is anticipated to be of great importance. Sources have indicated that several crucial proposals might be discussed, making it a pivotal moment in the state’s governance.

Notably, speculation is rife that this meeting could also serve as the last session for the current Council of Ministers. Reports suggest that following this meeting, there may be a change in leadership, with a new Chief Minister potentially assuming office as soon as April 15.

The looming transitions indicate a possible shift in power dynamics in Bihar, influencing both governance and political alliances in the region. Observers are keenly watching how these developments unfold in the coming days.

Sanjay Kumar Jha Affirms Support for Nitish Kumar’s Vision

In contrast to Yadav’s accusations, Sanjay Kumar Jha, the Working President of the JD(U) and a Rajya Sabha MP, reinforced the party’s ongoing commitment to development in Bihar. Jha asserted that the party would continue to uphold the policies and vision of Nitish Kumar, irrespective of his current role as Chief Minister.

Jha stated that the JD(U) intends to contest the forthcoming elections scheduled for 2025-30 under Kumar’s leadership and with the backing of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He emphasised that the party would maintain continuity in its policies and governance dynamics regardless of who occupies the Chief Ministerial position.

In his comments, Jha highlighted that even though Kumar is assuming a role in the Rajya Sabha, he remains engaged with Bihar’s developmental initiatives, travelling to Delhi primarily for parliamentary responsibilities. This indicates an effort to foster a sense of stability amidst the potential changes in state leadership.

Kumar recently took an oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on April 10, which marks a new phase in his political career following his long tenure as Chief Minister. His future role is anticipated to influence both Bihar’s administrative landscape and the dynamics within the JD(U) and its alliances.
