Reflective Collars for Cow Safety

A critical element of the initiative involves the introduction of specially designed reflective collars named “Gau-Raksha Kavatch” for cows. These collars are intended to mitigate the rising incidents of road accidents that affect both urban and rural landscapes. The use of reflective materials significantly enhances the visibility of cows during nighttime, aiding drivers in spotting them from a greater distance.

Each collar will be equipped with a smart QR tag, which enables individuals to scan and gather essential information regarding the animal and its caretaker. This feature is anticipated to improve response times during emergencies, thereby contributing to public safety.

Digital Identification for Community Dogs in Mumbai

The initiative will also introduce QR-based digital identity cards for community dogs in Mumbai through a partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). These identification cards resemble the Aadhaar system and will contain critical information such as vaccination status, medical history, and caretaker details.

This QR code system allows citizens to quickly access vital data, facilitating better management of stray dog populations and quicker responses to potential health or safety concerns. Such a structured identification system could significantly improve communication between the authorities and the community regarding animal management.

In a statement regarding the programme, Brajesh Vishwakarma of the Vantara Mumbai team mentioned that Akshay Ridlan initiated contact about this initiative, which has been presented to Mr Anant Ambani.
