Salman Khan’s ‘Sanam Bewafa’ Set for April 10 Re-Release

The CSR Journal Magazine

Re-releases of films became increasingly popular in 2024, and this trend is continuing into 2025 with significant titles returning to cinemas. ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ emerged as the top re-release grosser, setting a precedent for future films. Following this success, another iconic film featuring Salman Khan, ‘Tere Naam’ from 2003, also made a comeback, attracting attention from audiences. Now, Khan’s 1991 film ‘Sanam Bewafa’ is prepared to hit the screens once again.

Cinema Bookings and Locations

‘Sanam Bewafa’ is scheduled for release on Friday, April 10, and its advance bookings are currently noted in select cities such as Hyderabad, Indore, and Jalgaon in Maharashtra. Industry insiders indicate that additional theatres in numerous other urban centres are likely to take part in this re-release, capitalising on the vacant slots left by other film showings. A trade expert mentioned, “With ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge’ slowing down and ‘Bhooth Bangla’ being postponed, there is an opportunity for ‘Sanam Bewafa’, making this an ideal release date.”

In Hyderabad, one of the venues screened will be AMB Gachibowli, known for its modern amenities. This multiplex will be showcasing ‘Sanam Bewafa’ on its M B Luxe screen, featuring fully reclining seats for an enhanced viewing experience. However, most screenings across the nation will likely be situated in popular theatres, drawing the attention of larger audiences.

Film’s Historical Significance

During the 30th anniversary of ‘Sanam Bewafa’ in January 2021, actor Puneet Issar shared his reflections on the film’s impact during an interview with Hindustan Times. Describing it as a “timeless” piece, he credited the memorable music, created by Mahesh-Kishor, and Salman Khan’s charm as key factors contributing to its success. According to Issar, the film resonated deeply with audiences and has remained a fan favourite.

Issar recounted specific memories from the film’s original release, stating, “People would throw coins at the screen whenever we’d appear, they would whistle and dance to the songs. They enjoyed the film thoroughly.” Such enthusiastic audience reactions highlight the film’s enduring popularity over the years and its continued relevance in Indian cinema.

Future Projects and Developments

In addition to the re-release of ‘Sanam Bewafa’, reports suggest that Salman Khan is busy with upcoming projects. One notable mention is ‘Maatrubhumi’, which may not make its intended debut in May as scheduled. Industry speculation points to a revised release date in June, further amplifying interest in the actor’s current and future roles within the film industry.

The anticipation surrounding the re-release of ‘Sanam Bewafa’ exemplifies the film’s longstanding legacy within Indian cinema and Salman Khan’s prominent status as a leading actor. As theatres prepare to welcome back this classic, fans are keen to revisit the emotional storytelling and memorable performances that originally captivated audiences three decades ago.
