IPL 2026: Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi Propel RR to 150/3 Against MI in Guwahati

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a rain-affected match at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered a formidable total of 150 runs for the loss of three wickets in just 11 overs against Mumbai Indians (MI). Yashasvi Jaiswal played a pivotal role, remaining unbeaten on 77 runs off 32 deliveries, complemented by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s quick-fire innings of 39 runs off 14 balls.

Explosive Start for the Royals

After being invited to bat first, RR’s openers made a quick statement. Jaiswal showcased aggressive intent right from the start, dealing severe punishment to Deepak Chahar, who conceded 22 runs in the first over, including four boundaries and a six. Sooryavanshi joined the attack, taking Jasprit Bumrah for 14 runs in his first over, which featured two sixes. The Royals blitzed to 58 runs without losing a wicket within the first three overs, posing a significant challenge for MI.

Turning the Tide with Smart Bowling

As Mumbai’s captain Hardik Pandya entered the attack, he managed to break the early momentum by conceding only four runs in his two overs. Shardul Thakur, despite being hit for two sixes by Sooryavanshi, eventually claimed the young opener’s wicket on the last ball of his second over, leaving the Royals at 80 runs for one wicket after five overs. Despite this, Jaiswal continued to accumulate runs, guiding RR to 89/2 after six overs.

Maintain Steady Progress Amidst Wickets

In the seventh over, Bumrah returned to the bowling crease, restricting RR to just eight runs. However, Jaiswal reached his half-century in spectacular fashion, taking just 23 balls to do so in the eighth over bowled by Pandya, which yielded 13 runs. Riyan Parag contributed a six during this over, showcasing RR’s attacking approach.

Strategic Bowling from MI

Allah Ghazanfar’s spell turned eventful in the sixth over as he picked up Dhruv Jurel’s wicket for two runs, trapping him LBW. Nevertheless, Jaiswal maintained his assault, ending the over on a high note with a boundary. Although Ghazanfar struck again by dismissing Royal Parag in his subsequent over, he also conceded 12 runs, leaving RR at 122/3 after nine overs.

Final Push to 150 Runs

Bumrah’s final over limited RR to just 10 runs, but Jaiswal continued his aggressive play, including a strike for six. In the last over bowled by Thakur, the Royals significantly boosted their tally, with Jaiswal hitting three boundaries that added 18 runs to the total. Ultimately, RR concluded their innings at 150 runs, setting a challenging target for MI.

Looking Ahead to the Chase

Chasing a target of 151 runs, MI aims for their second victory in IPL 2026, while Rajasthan Royals, led by Riyan Parag, seek to secure their third consecutive win in the tournament.
