Bihar Madrasa Sealed Following Recovery of Pistol and Ammunition

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a significant operation in Bihar’s Motihari district, a madrasa was sealed after police recovered a pistol and live ammunition during a raid. The action came as part of an investigation into alleged illegal activities linked to the premises, located in Gawandara village under Chakia police station.

According to East Champaran Superintendent of Police, Swarn Prabhat, the operation was launched based on credible intelligence suggesting the location might be involved in illegal arms trading, potentially in preparation for a serious incident. A special team, including Chakia Deputy Superintendent of Police, Santosh Kumar, was formed to execute the plan efficiently.

As officers cordoned off the area, an extensive search was conducted, resulting in the recovery of not only the firearm but also key documents that may be vital to the investigation. Additional resources including a forensic team and a dog squad were deployed to assist in gathering evidence.

Three Individuals Detained for Questioning

Following the raid, three individuals were taken into custody for questioning regarding their potential involvement with illicit activities. Authorities are focused on determining whether these detainees have affiliations with any organised crime group or suspicious networks.

In order to expand the investigation, police are analysing mobile phones and CCTV footage from the madrasa and the immediate surrounding area. This analysis is crucial to understanding if a broader conspiracy exists in connection with the seized items.

As a precautionary measure, security in the surrounding locality has been heightened. Police officials are keen on ensuring that community safety is prioritised while the investigation progresses.

Previous Incidents Linked to the Madrasa

This madrasa had previously drawn attention in 2023 when Yakub Khan, also known as Usman or Sultan, was arrested at the location. He was identified as a significant operative linked to the banned organisation, Popular Front of India (PFI), and was reported to have facilitated training camps in the Chakia region.

Yakub Khan was accused of inciting unrest through inflammatory posts on social media, particularly in reference to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. His arrest had raised suspicions about the madrasa’s activities and its role in broader concerns regarding public safety.

Currently, police officials confirm that this investigation remains in its preliminary stages. Investigators are carefully examining all avenues, particularly any connections to presumed PFI affiliations and prior incidents related to the madrasa.
