What Really Happened to Chaudhry Aslam? Wife Breaks Silence

The CSR Journal Magazine

In an interview, Naureen Chaudhry, the wife of the late Pakistani police officer Chaudhry Aslam, discussed the film Dhurandhar: The Revenge and its portrayal of her husband’s death. The movie, directed by Aditya Dhar, has attracted significant audience attention and sparked renewed interest in the real-life figures depicted in its narrative. Sanjay Dutt stars as SP Chaudhry Aslam in the film, which includes a scene depicting his death by a suicide car bombing, a detail Naureen confirmed as true to life.

Personal Memories of Chaudhry Aslam’s Final Hours

Naureen recounted the heartbreaking events of 2014, the day her husband was killed. She described returning home from the hospital and learning that Chaudhry was preparing to leave for duty. Despite her concerns about the lack of a bomb-proof vehicle, he assured her everything would be fine. She remembered him saying, “Forgive me, I could never give you time,” as he departed. Shortly after leaving, he called once again to express a desire to meet elsewhere due to security worries. Tragically, soon after the call, a devastating blast occurred when a vehicle loaded with approximately 125 kilograms of explosives rammed into his car. Naureen expressed her instinctive sense of loss, stating, “Even before any confirmation came, my heart knew he was gone.”

Impact of the Attack and Subsequent Condolences

The suicide attack, later attributed to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), sent shockwaves throughout the nation. Following the incident, numerous prominent political figures, including former leaders Pervez Musharraf and Nawaz Sharif, reached out to Naureen to offer their condolences.

Chaudhry Aslam’s Battle Against Karachi’s Underworld

While Dhurandhar 2 dramatizes various facets of Chaudhry Aslam’s life, it also highlights his extensive conflict with Karachi’s criminal underbelly, particularly his feud with gangster Rehman Dakait, portrayed by Akshaye Khanna. Naureen emphasized that her husband was never intimidated by Rehman, who reportedly viewed Chaudhry as a significant threat. After enduring a politically motivated imprisonment, Chaudhry Aslam devoted himself to pursuing Rehman. Naureen shared her husband’s confidence, recalling, “He told me to pray for him. I said, within 14 days, Rehman will fall, and it happened.”

Details Surrounding Rehman Dakait’s Downfall

According to Naureen, Rehman’s eventual location was discovered through a phone call, resulting in a fierce confrontation during which Rehman was injured. The aftermath of his death led to turmoil at Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital, where a large crowd attempted to claim his body. Despite the volatile circumstances, Chaudhry remained steadfast in ensuring that the body underwent a post-mortem, emphasizing the importance of proper procedure even in chaotic situations.

A Blend of Reality and Fiction in Dhurandhar: The Revenge

Dhurandhar: The Revenge not only intertwines actual events but also incorporates fictional elements. The film features Ranveer Singh as undercover agent Hamza Ali Mazari and delves into the complexities of cross-border crime, espionage, and the funding of terrorism in Karachi’s Lyari region.
