14-Year-Old Among 8 Held for Murder After Holi Dispute in Uttam Nagar

A 14-year-old minor was among those detained by the Delhi Police in relation to the Uttam Nagar murder case on March 9. Alongside the minor, seven other individuals were also taken into custody. These individuals included three women and were apprehended in the Khyala area of Delhi after being sought by law enforcement since the incident. The Delhi Police confirmed the apprehension of these individuals, who are connected to the ongoing investigation.

Profiles of the Arrested Individuals

The arrested individuals have been identified as follows: Sayra, also known as Kali, aged 40, is the wife of Ramzan; Sarifan, aged 50, is the wife of Gaffar; and Salma, aged 36, is the wife of Jumadeen, all residents of Uttam Nagar. Additionally, Suhail, also referred to as Sahil, aged 21, Sameer Chauhan, aged 20, Firoj, aged 22, and Ismile, aged 50, are all local residents. The minor taken into custody is also from Uttam Nagar and is 14 years old.

Additional Arrests in the Case

Prior to these arrests, on Sunday, the police apprehended another suspect named Imran, commonly known as Bunty, aged 38, in connection with the same murder case. The incidents surrounding this case reportedly began during the Holi festival when a dispute over a balloon escalated into violence, resulting in the death of a young man. The situation has raised concerns and prompted additional police action.

Legal Measures and Ongoing Investigation

The Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Dwarka district, Kushal Pal Singh, announced that as part of the investigation, charges under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act have been applied based on statements from the family of the deceased, Tarun. These provisions serve to legally escalate the charges against the accused amid community concerns regarding the incident.

The police department confirmed that the investigation is actively ongoing, with efforts focused on ensuring peace in the locality. In relation to the incident, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has undertaken actions against the property of one of the accused through a demolition operation. This action is intended to address the violent incident and its aftermath.
